Nesquick vs Hershey's chocolate syrup

Nesquik and Hershey's Syrup are commonly used to make chocolate milk.
I grew up basically drinking both.
I love both a lot, that's why I decided to blog about it.(wink)

Hershey's syrup is very easy to mix in with milk cause it is in a syrup form.
It also comes in a squeeze type bottle.
Since It is liquid, once you pour it in, you'll definitely smell how chocolatey it is.
The very best thing about Hershey's syrup is being able to use it in many ways. You can put it on top of crepes, ice creams, whip creams, pancakes, pastries and a lot more..

See how dark and thick the chocolate syrup is! smells like chocolate kisses too.

Nesquik chocolate milk powder comes in an eye catching bright yellow container.
The powder is fine, yet it is not as easy to mix into milk as Hershey's syrup.
It smells chocolatey too but a bit milder than Hershey's scent.

The problem with the powders is that you can still taste the individual grains that didn't mix in,
although I do love eating those small chocolate clumps at the bottom of the glass.

Before when hubby was still my boyfriend, I used to make him chocolate pastillas using this. It has a darker chocolate flavor than other chocolate milk powder which is perfect! He loved it so much that he ate it for 2 months straight every after meal, and still requested it often after that.

The milk tends to get much darker with the syrup as opposed to powders,
It really does taste chocolatier too.
I prefer Hershey's chocolate syrup.

Really, with any of these, you can't go wrong.

Lotus Biscoff Spread CRUNCHY - BEWARE - This stuff is addictive

Biscoff crunchy Spread is a sweet, creamy spread made with Biscoff Cookies (66%)
(compared to 57% in the creamy variety) It is a delicious European alternative to peanut butter or chocolate spread.
Contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Curious about the famous cookie spread, I decided to order  a jar from Taste Central
and after 3 business days it finally arrived, Yay!

Biscoff cookies pureed  into a delicious spread.

I was surprised to see the huge amount of cookie granules .
Pure heaven in a jar. So completely, irresistibly awesome.
It kinda makes you feel like your eating peanut butter because of it's creamy consistency yet it is free of nuts!
The crunchy Biscoff cookies makes it more addicting!
I tried it with toast but I like it more with just heaping spoonfuls straight out of the jar!
I also like it more than Nutella.

That’s all for now. I have a date with the jar and a spoon.

Cake2Go

Late for my sister in law's birthday and me annoying hubby for sweets,
hubby decided to drop by this small cute cake shop. The shop had a strong red color with dash of blue and white that looked like a courier service or a fast food joint rather than a cake shop.

Here are some mouthwatering cakes to choose from...

Oreo cake, Mom's chocolate fudge cake, Toblerone cake, Dulce de Leche cheesecake,
Nestle Crunch cake, Devil's Food cheesecake

Sugar Free Sansrival, Quatro Leches cake, Cadbury cake, Salted Caramel cake

I chose this....

Cake2Go's Red Velvet Cake has a generous amount of cream cheese frosting all over. It is creamy and yet suprisingly light. It has the right amount of sweetness and has a very very mild tanginess to it. The base of this cake is one of the most dense yet very moist cakes I've had. The flavor just bursts with goodness.
This cake is for people who don't want their red velvet tangy.
Love this cake! although Cafe Jeepney's red velvet cake still tops my list.

Ferrero Rocher is one of my favorite chocolates. It is always included in the balik-bayan box my dad or mom sends me. For me and my sister, this is 1 of  the chocolates we usually don't share. Instead of me leaving it in the fridge, I usually keep mine inside my drawer or somewhere safe LOL (she does the same).

I had high expectations with this Ferrero cake. The cake was light, moist, and delicious. The cake is also crumbly, it wasn't dense like the red velvet cake. The frosting was not sweet and you can taste a mild hint of hazelnut to it, the almonds on the outside icing made a huge factor to the cake which made it taste like Ferrero. It was good.

Among the 2, I'd pick the red velvet cake. I will definitely try other flavors of their yummy cakes soon!

Intercontinental Hotel's Cafe Jeepney

Did you know that the Jeepney was originally made from US military jeeps left over from World War II? It is a post-war creation inspired by the GI jeeps that the American soldiers brought to the country in the 1940s. Enterprising Filipinos salvaged the surplus engines and came out unique vehicles of art.

After celebrating my daughter's birthday at Tagaytay, we also wanted to celebrate her birthday in Manila. My sister gave me vouchers she bought from Deal Grocer as a birthday gift for her "pamangkin," and I was excited to use it.

We were welcomed by the staff the moment we entered, the dining area was okay and lighting is great.
There were only a few diners in the restaurant, I was glad that it wasn't too busy.
The choices are quite limited as compared to other Hotel buffets.

There were also very few pieces of ebi tempura. Some of the diners were dissapointed because it wasn't enough considering the place wasn't crowded. Hubby requested the chef to make more unfortunately it didn't arrive. Food is just so-so, actually it was forgettable.

My kids enjoying their meal.

For the desserts, it's a different story, their desserts were scrumptous! Lots of cakes, and pastries.
They have the best red velvet ever! Crepe samurai is also really good, creme brulee & the dark chocolate mousse cake.

 Halo-halo station.

You can also buy their yummy cakes to go.

I personally love the red velvet cake, it's a must-try. This is the best red velvet cake I've eaten so far. I'm comparing this to karen's kitchen/UCC  (which was hailed #1 in Manila)  plus the red velvet cakes and cupcakes from random pastry shops. The white chocolate tasted like white Toblerone and the cream cheese frosting was totally divine! the cake was moist and buttery which gave a good contrast of flavor.

Personally, I would rather dine at buffet 101 that has also the same price as this, but they have wider & yummier selection of food, although when it comes to red velvet I must say this tops my list.

REESE'S Puffs

While rummaging through the stuff in the balik-bayan box I found this huge cereal.
It had this very bright strong orange color that grabbed my attention. I was really curious about this.
And then I saw the word "Reese's"
My eyes widened. The smile on my face grew larger in excitement.
YES!! Jackpot!
At the first bite all I could say was  Oh My Gosh! It was so good I wanted to cry. Whoever invented this was pure genius!
This crispy, crunchy, and somehow creamy all at the same time was pure indulgence.
You could really taste the peanut butter and hershey's chocolate.

The first thing I did was place it on top of the Toblerone mousse I made. Since I had lots of Toblerone I made it into chocolate mousse which later turned out to taste like Toblerone ice cream
Maybe I lacked egg whites.Hubby said it tasted like gelato hahaha.

the cereal on top of the mousse tasted even better! I immediately envisioned it as my future business, with me getting rich and all lol.
Back to reality, I gave samples of it to my cousins, aunt and uncle. They said it was really good.
hubby who isn't much of a peanut butter guy said it was okay.
He grabbed a handful of cereal and ate it while watching TV.

On the other hand, my daughters love it.
We tried it with milk
This cereal is awesome with or without milk.
This makes you feel like your having dessert for breakfast! yum yum!
This is one of the best cereals out there in my opinion. A great find!

Sweet Treats!

On my previous blog about Nutella VS Trader Joe's cocoa almond spread, I said that my dad usually sends me sweet treats so here's more:

Halloween KitKat

It says on the label "Orange-Colored Halloween treats", I thought it was some kind of pumpkin
flavored kitkat
since "flavored kitkat" are popular these days.

As I took a bite, I noticed how crunchy and tasty the wafers are. The pumpkin colored coating is just plain white chocolate which is not that sweet, the flavor tasted like vanilla frosting for cupcakes.
Best for those who love white chocolate or vanilla frosting, It is really scrumptious!

For years,
everytime my parents sends me goodies, they never fail sending Kellogg's The Original rice krispies treats.
It's like SPAM, if there's a balik-bayan box it has to be there.
It has been a part of my childhood memory.
The blue and white wrapper makes it eye-catching.
I mean who doesn't love these gorgeous snacks right?
It's a deliciously sweet favorite treat for all seasons.

They are soft, gooey and totally crunchy. The texture makes it addicting, seriously.
The taste of the marshmallow cream and rice krispies combined is pure delight!
If you're tired of the usual chocolate bars, chocolate chip cookies.. this would be a great alternative to that.
These are best snacks for kids and people on the go.
It will give you tons of energy plus it taste great too :)

Some sweet treats I found at the grocery...

Big Scoop's Avocado Ice cream

When I was pregnant with my youngest daughter Pharell, I craved for avocado milkshake so much that
I go to the mall almost everyday just to buy it from a popular coffee shop and go home right away. It's like I was just there for no more than 5 mins. Kind of a biggie for me cause it's hard to move around when your "prego" and dress up and put make up on. Well lot's of thanks to my uncle Dong who drives me there everytime and waits for me :)

I saw that this is the brand they were using to make the avocado milkshake.
It says on the label they use avocado puree. This brand has a very strong avocado flavor which is good.
It has a very mild bitter taste to it, like the flesh of the avocado near the seed. I'm comparing this to Arce's avocado Ice cream which I also love, though Arce's has a milder avocado flavor. This is more dense, creamy and packed with flavor. That's why I think the popoular coffee shop adds milk to it, to make it into avocado milkshake and it wouldn't compromise the avocado taste.
It is really good! ice cream or milkshake
this would be the Best option for avocado!

When I was young I didn't really like durian. It smelled terrible! My aunt said that the durian fruit is for rich people because it is expensive and people who get to eat and appreciate it have better taste than others.
Well of course her reverse psychology worked on me! LOL.
For people who eat durian, it smells good. The smell makes you crave for durian right away.
That's exactly what this ice cream does!
 ECJ Farms Gourmet Durian Dessert
I bought the supreme version. (they have it in supreme and unsweetened)

Once you open the lid it infuses the room with durian scent.
Since I had this ice cream more like a year ago, I noticed that it is creamier this time.
It is dense and has a very rich durian flavor unlike my other favorites FIC, Arce (which taste like durian pastillas)& magnolia's version.(pulpy stronger taste than arce and fic)

It's almost like your eating the real fruit which is good cause we love durian.
See how creamy it is?
 aargh!
I'm drooling over this one as I'm blogging.
This is the perfect durian ice cream for me. I personally recommend it for people who actually like the fruit and not just the candy. This one will satisfy your cravings! I promise!
